JK Super Cement launches Diwali Campaign- Kare Har Raah Roshan #LightOfHappiness

30th October 2021: A brand with a purpose, JK Super Cement rings in the festivities with a special Diwali Campaign- Kare Har Raah Roshan #LightOfHappiness- by lighting up streets and chowks across eight states in India. This sustainable initiative was done by installing 160 solar-powered lights in different villages across India, impacting over 12 lakh populations.

JKCement identified these dark alleys and bylanes across villages where passersby find it difficult or unsafe to cross those streets due to inadequate lights. The company installed these lights in those areas thereby preventing road accidents and other related difficulties.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Pushp Raj Singh, President Marketing, Grey Cement Business, JK Cement Ltd., said, ‘Toeing on the lines of “Brand with a Purpose” we had put our heads together to think how this Diwali JKCement can make the lives of people a little “happier and shiner”. Upon much discussion, we came up with this noble idea to install these lights in the dark alleys. It is JKCement’s small effort to bring a little bit of happiness in people’s lives.”

Adding further, Mr. Singh said, “The company always has been at the forefront of holistically developing the communities it serves, with solutions that are eco-friendly, cost-efficient and sustainable. The brand had been addressing real issues that are affecting people through a plethora of social, charitable, healthcare and educational initiatives. We have always tried to resonate with our brand value proposition through our campaigns. The campaign Kare Har Raah Roshan is in continuation of its efforts to address a pressing concern by adding convenience and safer infrastructure.”

Earlier this year, JK Super Cement created a record by constructing 251 ramps in various government schools in the district of Jaipur, Rajasthan in a single day.

The cement company to mark this celebration has released a heart-warming 120-second video, named, #LightOfHappiness on their social media handles. (YouTube link: https://youtu.be/izgmb-V1_f0)

The video depicts how people across various villages struggle due to the lack of inadequately lit streets. JK Super Cement has identified and addressed this problem by installing sustainable solar lights in these areas. The video ends with the line, “Har raah ko roshan karta mai yahi milunga, kyunki suraksha ka ye wada pucca hai, irada hamara ye pucca hai.”

The social media film, #LightOfHappiness has been conceptualised by Social Cloud Ventures, a digital solutions provider for social media, mobile apps, and digital business marketing sectors.

Talking about the need for this initiative, Mr. Love Raghav, Head – Branding, Grey Cement Business, said, ‘I would often hear about unfortunate incidents of inconvenience, crimes and road accidents that happen in remote villages due to inadequately lit streets and alleys from my friends. This year with our Diwali Campaign, #LightOfHappiness Kare Har Raah Roshan, we got this opportunity to not only address this problem with a self-sustaining solution but also spread hope, strength, safety and happiness among over 12 lakh people residing in the rural areas of India.’

Talking further about the initiative, Mr. Raghav added, “The campaign is very close to our hearts as it perfectly blends into our brand’s ideology of ’Build Safe’. At JK Super Cement, our objective has been to undertake various developmental initiatives across the length and breadth of the country and create a better infrastructure that benefits one and all.” he further added.

Need to draw a line between ‘Fact’ and ‘Fake’: Anurag Thakur

Need to draw a line between ‘Fact’ and ‘Fake’: Anurag Thakur

Union I&B Minister addresses IIMC students during Orientation-2021-22

New Delhi, October 29: Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting Shri Anurag Thakur, while addressing the IIMC students at the closing ceremony of the week-long Orientation Programme-2021-22, said the nature of media has changed due to mobile, internet and digitalisation. In the changed era today, there is a need to draw a line between the ‘Fact’ and ‘Fake’. You have to protect your source, but also question them with equal vigour their facts and narrative. “Technology has entered every sector, Covid-19 has disrupted every plan in many ways, and we have a chance to make a fresh start, fresh outlook. The world needs those who bring about constructive change. As a media person you will be the custodian of truth and amplifier of information,” he said. Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and Chairman of IIMC, Mr. Apoorva Chandra, Director General of IIMC, Prof. Sanjay Dwivedi, Additional Director-General Mr. Ashish Goyal and Convener of the Orientation Programme and Dean (Academic) Prof. Govind Singh, faculty members from all the centres of IIMC and students were also present.

Guiding the IIMC students, Shri Thakur said during Covid pandemic, communication has taken on new meaning and sharing of information has taken on a new dimension altogether. “The world around you and the media landscape has changed and will change more by the time you enter the market. You will have to fight for the national interest and defend every voice to be heard. So, you have to make a habit of saying and writing very thoughtfully,” he added.

Shri Thakur said the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, in the changing time, has been working on a human-centered communication system so that information can be delivered to the common man immediately. He said the government’s plan is to ensure timely information to the last person in society, and the regional media has an important role to play in it.

Correct use of right information is very important: Apurva Chandra

Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and Chairman of IIMC, Mr. Apoorva Chandra said earlier only newspapers were the prime source of news, but today everything has been reduced to a mobile phone due to the unprecedented change in digital technology. Today, you have a wealth of information, but which information is important and which is not, it is not known to the common man. The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting is working seriously in this direction, so that people can make the right use of the right information, he added.

Youth should focus on ‘Innovation’: Prof. Dwivedi

Director General of IIMC Prof. Sanjay Dwivedi said if there is one word that has been the most talked about in the last few years it is ‘Innovation’. Capacity, infrastructure, culture and strategy are key elements for innovation in any organisation. In the coming times, only those companies will exist, which will provide service based on innovation. He said the innovations made by the IIMC in the field of media education and research are an example for other media education institutions in the country.

Social media and TV are complementary to each other: Anurradha Prasad

Managing Director, News24, Ms. Anurradha Prasad, while addressing the students on the topic ‘Future of TV News’ said when we read a newspaper, we get the news of a day old, but in TV and digital media you also get the news of a minute ago. Just as TV channels and newspapers complement each other, social media and television too complement each other. She said when TV channels came, people used to say that newspapers would be closed, but it did not happen. The newspapers, which changed their content as per the changing scenario are still flourishing.

English is not the medium of success: Sankrant Sanu

In the second session, noted author Shri Sankrant Sanu interacted with the students on the topic ‘English for Communication Vs English as Medium’. He said when someone speaks good English, he is considered to be educated, while a person who speaks Hindi is considered to be inferior. When you go abroad, you come to know the fact that English is not the medium of success in any country. Out of 20 most developed countries of the world, only four developed countries use English and that too because it is their own language. In the remaining 16 countries, people use only their mother tongues.

Sense of global connect is in Indian communication tradition: Prof. Adhikari

Prof. in Kathmandu University Dr. Nirmal Mani Adhikari, while speaking on the topic ‘Communication Tradition of Bharatvarsh’, said India has better connect with the rest of the world, despite the diversity of languages, Vedas, and literature. He said people who went to study in other countries from India studied the English language and then copied the same and created India’s education system. Due to this, the dominance of English over India’s education system and communication tradition increased.

At the concluding session, eminent alumni of IIMC interacted with the new batch of students. News Director of ‘AajTak’ Mr. Supriya Prasad, Editor-in-Chief of ‘India News’ Mr. Rana Yashwant, Public Relations Specialist Ms. Simrat Gulati, IFFCO’s Public Relations Head Mr. Harshendra Singh Verdhan and IIMC Alumni Association president Mr. Kalyan Ranjan shared their experience with the students.

Stroke Risk 5–30 Times Higher in Patients With Diabetic Kidney Disease; Maintaining Healthy Lifestyle Can Reduce Risk: Doctors

Stroke is a serious ailment because it is the third leading cause of death, after heart disease and cancer. Diabetic kidney disease or diabetic nephropathy is a form of chronic kidney. Patients with diabetic kidney disease have exceptionally high rates of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Due to poor control of the mechanisms underlying the strong association between diabetic kidney disease and various forms of cardiovascular disease, deaths due to strokes have increased. As per a report published by NCBI journal, the risk of stroke is 5-30 times higher in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), especially in those on dialysis.

Diabetic kidney disease is a type of chronic kidney disease caused by diabetes. Diabetes is the leading cause of kidney disease in many countries including India. According to a report about 1 out of 3 adults with diabetes have kidney disease. In India, stroke cases are on rise due to diabetes, hypertension, smoking, obesity and unhealthy lifestyle. A recent scientific paper published in the Lancet Global Health shows that in 2019, stroke caused 7 lakh deaths in India. This trend is alarming in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic and could further lead to the country’s disease burden.

“Chronic kidney disease patients are at increased risk of stroke, especially in presence of type 2 diabetes. It has been found to be a big risk factor as due to type 2 diabetes, there is impairment in the way the body regulates and uses sugar (glucose) as a fuel. This long-term condition results in too much sugar circulating in the bloodstream. Eventually, high blood sugar levels can lead to disorders of the circulatory, nervous, and immune systems and stroke is one such complication in kidney patients with diabetes. The risk of cardiovascular diseases, including stroke in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) is 5–30 times greater than that in the general population,” says Dr Deepak Dewan, MD, DM (Nephrology), Director Renal Sciences, Regency Superspecialty Hospital.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is an independent risk factor for stroke, including both hemorrhagic and ischemic subtypes. Most people with early diabetic kidney disease do not have any symptoms. The only way to know if one has diabetic kidney disease is to get examined by a doctor and get himself/herself investigates. In middle income countries like India, high prevalence of infectious causes of kidney disease as well as rising rates of hypertension and particularly of untreated diabetes are some the factors behind stroke in patients with chronic kidney disease.

Stroke risk due to diabetic kidney disease can be reduced by correcting reversible risk factors. This includes treating hypertension, stopping smoking, controlling diabetes, cardiac disease, regular exercise, adapting a healthy diet and preventing excessive use of alcohol. However, there are some nonmodifiable risk factors as well, these include age, male gender, family history of stroke, and nonwhite race.
