Conclave of Fire Licensing Agencies in Mumbai to Strengthen Fire Services in Maharashtra

Mumbai -With the aim of strengthening the fire services in the state, a conclave of “Fire Licensing Agencies” was recently organized in collaboration with the Maharashtra Fire Services and Fire and Security Association of India, Mumbai Chapter. The conclave was held at Nehru Center Auditorium, Worli recently and was attended by more than 400 licensed agencies from all over Maharashtra and their representatives besides more than 40 fire officers from Mumbai, CIDCO, PCMC, Ulhasnagar, Vasai-Virar and other fire brigades. The conference was sponsored by major companies like Ambertronics, Newage Industries, Tulsi Fire, Shah Bhogilal Jethalal Brothers. Director of Maharashtra Fire Services, Shri. Santosh Warick was the chief guest of the event. Chief Fire Officer of Mumbai Fire Brigade, Shri. Hemant Parab and Shri. Suresh Menon, FSAI, National President, Shri. Rupesh Umtol, President and Shri. Sameer Thakkar, Secretary both from Mumbai Chapter of Fire and Security Association of India were also present.

He also provided guidance on how to prevent fire incidents by imparting training in fire safety and adopting new technical ideas and also assured full support from the Maharashtra Fire Brigade. Assistant Director of Maharashtra Fire Services, Shri. Kiran Hathyal noted the extensive work being done to make the licensing and renewal process streamlined, transparent and efficient. On failing to maintain them or giving false data in license renewal documents – and promising strict action on complaints found under the Maharashtra Fire Services Act.

Today, in all the major cities of Maharashtra, the number of high-rise buildings, commercial buildings, shopping malls, multiplexes, factories, hospital buildings, high school buildings, star hotel buildings, underground railways, metros, markets, etc. are increasing rapidly. While providing good facilities in all these buildings, one needs to address the increasing risk of fire due to the various flammable materials used in them and the large number of occupants in the building.

The conclave featured Moderator Chintu Asher, keynote speakers from the fire industry like Mr. Kapse & Mr. Muthukrishnan guided topics ranging from sprinkler system design to model checklists and the benefits of digitization for the fire industry. “We have decided to set up a special cell soon to take up the issue of the fire licensing agencies directly with the authorities and undertake training for them,” Mr. Suresh Menon, National President, FSAI said.
