TechVariable aims to transform IT Landscape in North East India New Delhi, 28 February 2023: TechVariable, an IT services and consulting company, hosted one of the biggest Training and Placement Conclave – Pragmatic, that aims at Transforming IT Landscape in North East India at its Head office in Chandmari, Guwahati.

The event was a success with some of the noteworthy participants including Dr. Pijush Ch. Das, Deputy Director, T&P Cell at Tezpur University, Dr. Hiten Choudhury, Associate Professor, Dept. of CS & IT at Cotton University, Mr. Zoheb Salim Sattar, Manager Placements at the Assam Kaziranga University, and, Nurmahmud Ali, Director, (T&P) University of Science and Technology Meghalaya who provided their valuable insights. The program was graced by T&Ps such as Sourobh Mazinder Barua, Training and Placement Officer Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology. From the industry, the program was addressed by Pubali Borthakur, Senior Director, People & Talent Operations, and Nandini Nayak, Recruitment Manager at Zaloni, and Semina Mehjabin, Senior Consultant, Leadership Hiring at Xcutives Inc. The conclave was moderated by Nilotpal Boruah, CEO of TechVariable, and Antara Saikia Vauquline, the HR Manager at TechVariable.

These sessions assist the students in reaching the desired level or, at the very least, keeping up with industry standards. TechVariable is associated with the various processes of recruitment through campus placements, direct applications, and referrals. During the process, it was discovered that there is a discrepancy between the college curriculum and the necessary industry standards, which accounts for the extraordinarily low selection rate of applicants for TechVariable interviews. With the goal to uplift and upskill the students the Training and Placement Conclave was organized where a number of incharges of training and placement from prestigious colleges in Assam, as well as a select few from the industry, were invited to offer their insightful perspective and training so that the attendees can have the best of both worlds.

Appreciating the efforts of bringing together academia and corporate on one platform, Hiten Choudhury, Associate Professor, Computer Science & IT at Cotton University, said, “All stakeholders in the education and industry ecosystems must come together to build curriculums that are employment-oriented and encourage aspirants to learn new skills and competencies.”

Pubali Borthakur, Senior Director, People & Talent Operations at Zaloni, said, “There is a need to establish a single point of contact between aspirants from different educational institutions and corporate leaders so that a constant exchange of information can be ensured between participating stakeholders. Learners also need to sharpen their soft skills as lacking these critical abilities could hamper their growth in the corporate world.”

Emphasizing the importance of learning core subjects, Pijush Chandra Das, Deputy Director of Tezpur University, said, “Students need to learn mathematics and statistics thoroughly as understanding these subjects will help them to gain quality employment in the corporate world. In addition, learners must also focus on their soft skills to further ensure holistic development of their personalities.”

The student coordinators and placement secretaries of the higher educational institutions were also present, along with the professor in charge of training and placement, to discuss their thoughts on and pain points related to the recent placement scenario, as well as their goals for a career in IT.

TechVariable is an end-to-end software services company consisting of a dynamic team with the best of talents. Post the conclave, TechVariable is planning to host intra- and inter-college hackathons, online and offline coding workshops, personal coding assessments, one-on-one mentoring sessions with senior technologists, guidance sessions on working with new age technologies, and a variety of sessions to help the students understand the importance of improving their interpersonal and technical skills.
