Kalpataru and Khushiyaan Foundation Leads Successful Beach Cleanup, Promoting Environmental Awareness

Mumbai, 11th June 2024: Demonstrating their commitment to environmental stewardship, volunteers from Kalpataru, Khushiyaan Foundation, and the local community participated in a beach cleanup at Prabhadevi Beach. The event raised awareness and took direct action to protect Mumbai’s coastline.

From 8:00 am to 10:00 am, volunteers worked diligently to remove litter, plastics, and other debris from the shoreline. Their efforts resulted in the collection of waste, preventing it from polluting the ocean and harming marine life. Around 1350KG of wastage were removed.

“We are grateful to every volunteer who joined us for this important cause,” said Representative of Kalpataru. “This beach cleanup underscores the impact we can make when community members come together to safeguard our environment.”

Dr. Chinu Kwatra of Khushiyaan Foundation added, “The dedication of those present was truly inspiring. We appreciate all who lent their time and energy to this noble effort.”

Under its CSR, Kalpataru has been partnering with Khushiyaan Foundation to conduct weekly beach clean-up drives on Prabhadevi beach. This highlights Kalpataru’s endeavor to uphold sustainability & responsibility towards our environment. As a part of World Environment Day, since the last week of May, more than 800 volunteers jointly collected ~20,000kgs of debris thereby ensuring lesser plastic entering the sea.

Kalpataru and Khushiyaan Foundation remain committed to organizing similar initiatives to promote corporate social responsibility and environmental protection.

Bank of Baroda Marks World Environment Day with a Thrust on Green

Mumbai, 6th June 2024: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Bank of Baroda, one of India’s leading public sector banks, conducted a number of initiatives to reaffirm the Bank’s commitment and responsibility towards protecting and preserving Mother Earth.

Bank of Baroda’s offices across the country have adopted parks and gardens and have undertaken 498 plantation programmes. By adopting parks, the Bank will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the garden, planting trees and flower beds and keeping the garden litter-free.

Further, in the run-up to World Environment Day, the Bank conducted an awareness drive focused on the recently-launched BOB Earth Green Term Deposit Scheme, outlining the benefits of the scheme for both depositors and the environment. BOB Earth Green Term Deposits offers interest rates of up to 7.15% p.a. and funds raised will be deployed towards financing eligible environment-friendly projects and sectors. In just two days, the Bank has opened over 4,000 accounts.

While launching the plantation drive at Bank of Baroda’s corporate office, Shri Debadatta Chand, Managing Director & CEO, Bank of Baroda said, “At Bank of Baroda, we are committed to taking tangible measures that will pave the way for a greener tomorrow. Ek Saath and JNPA Collaborate for Elephanta Island Preservation

On 5th June 2024, World Environment Day, a landmark initiative unfolded as Ek Saath – The Earth Foundation, in collaboration with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), came together to initiate the ‘Preserving Heritage – Elephanta Island’ project. This collaborative effort underscored a significant step towards establishing a sustainable waste management model while honoring & protecting the rich heritage of Elephanta Island.

The initiative further included a comprehensive clean-up endeavor in collaboration with Waste Matters led by a few corporate volunteers and also volunteers from ConnectFor. This hands-on activity aimed to restore the natural beauty of Elephanta Island while promoting environmental awareness among participants. The attendees also had the opportunity to witness a captivating street play by the Young Creative Production team, offering an impactful depiction of the significance of preserving cultural heritage and environmental sustainability.

Shri Unmesh Sharad Wagh, Chairman of JNPA inaugurated the project which highlighted the shared commitment towards environmental conservation. Local communities and Panchayats were also present, showcasing the collective responsibility towards safeguarding our heritage.

Finolex Industries and Mukul Madhav Foundation Celebrate World Environment Day with Impactful Water Projects and Tree Plantation Initiatives

Pune, India – June 5, 2024: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Finolex Pipes, along with its CSR partner Mukul Madhav Foundation (MMF), is proud to announce the proactive initiation of several water projects and tree plantation drives in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Gujarat ahead of the monsoon season. These initiatives aim to provide vital support to communities, ensure access to clean water, and promote environmental sustainability.

Over the years, MMF has undertaken a wide array of initiatives and forged partnerships with various organizations to drive gradual change. More than 12,700 people have been supported with water conservation projects in and around Maharashtra and engaged in activities such as restoring and constructing cement nala bunds, installing water pumps, laying pipelines for remote access, and promoting initiatives like rainwater harvesting, river rejuvenation, and desilting water bodies. MMF has made significant strides in ensuring access to clean drinking water for thousands of families across multiple regions in India. In Khdakwasala, in Pune, the de-silting has been undertaken of a 2 km dam, benefiting over 15 lakh people in both the city and rural areas. In Piludra, Gujarat, the drinking water supply scheme has positively impacted 300 households. Furthermore, water tankers have been supplied to 500 families in three villages in Ratnagiri.

Additionally, extensive tree plantation drives to foster environmental protection are being conducted. MMF has achieved significant transformations in regions grappling with water scarcity. By deepening reservoirs, increasing water levels, and reviving old rivers and lakes, we have made a meaningful impact.

MMF is actively planting trees in Pune, Ratnagiri, Satara, Masar, and Rajasthan to combat soil erosion and mitigate the effects of global warming. So far 23000 trees have been planted. The premises of Mukul Madhav Vidyalaya (MMV) have been equipped with solar systems, rainwater harvesting facilities, and planted more than 336 trees and counting over the last 5 years. The school also boasts vegetable patches and a garbage management system aimed at producing compost fertilizer for its garden.

These initiatives aim to make a significant difference by offering vital support to communities and improving water availability for agricultural and daily needs.

Kolkata, 5th June, 2024: Motovolt Mobility Pvt Ltd, a leading innovator in the electric vehicle industry celebrated World Environment Day by demonstrating its commitment towards environmental sustainability. The integration of EVs into Blue Dart’s fleet is poised to yield substantial environmental benefits, with an estimated reduction of 15.05 tonnes of CO2 emissions per month. Shiva Cycles in association with NECC Group organised event on ‘World Environment Day’

On the occasion of World Environment Day, Shiva Cycles in association with NECC Group organised an event, where over more than 75 cyclists participated. The objective behind organising the event is to raise awareness about the benefits of cycling and conserve our mother earth.

The participants had a Zumba session and went for 50 Km cycling in Noida. The drive was concluded by doing tree plantation. Shiva Cycles intends for Noida and other adjoining areas to become pollution-free, and it can only happen when people will switch to public transport, and adopt cycling for smaller distances. Different age groups of people participated in the event, including women riders.

The culture of cycling has been missing, we want the culture to make a comeback like in earlier days. Kids love cycling, we want them to use it as it will give them a healthy lifestyle.

Priyanka Guin, Founder,  Shiva Cycle, said, “We intend to make cycling a preferred mode for commuters, and it can only happen when we will switch to bicycles. Pahwa Group conducts a plantation drive on the occasion of World Environment Day

Bry-Air and DRI, the flagship company of Pahwa Group, on the occasion of World Environment Day held a tree plantation drive among the children studying at Bry-Air and DRI Pathshalas. The students also had a drawing competition around the theme of saving our mother earth.

The aim of the event was to create awareness among the students and sensitize them as future generations towards the growing strain on Earth’s natural ecosystem and encourage them to take steps to protect the environment. The student’s creative will be posted on Be the Voice for Soil, to pledge and support to express their commitment to protecting the environment.

For years, Pahwa Groups has been an active participant in the endeavour to protect the earth and has undertaken various initiatives like the construction of check dams for rainwater harvesting, plantation drives, and afforestation to increase green cover and improve the quality of air in a step towards the restoration of Eco-System. For instance, this year the company had inaugurated three Check Dams in the area of Dadhikar village and Hajipur village of Alwar to meet the scarcity of water by recharging the water table. The company is coming up with another rainwater harvesting structure that will be utilized for the paper recycling unit.

In this attempt to protect the environment, Pahwa Group keeps conducting afforestation drives in Dadhikar village, Alwar, Rajasthan. This will help in the re-greening of the area which will be able to provide fruits for the locality.
