business Jun 5, 2025

New Delhi, June 5, 2025: Today, OPPO released its 2024 Sustainability Report on the 54th World Environment Day. The report – now in its fifth year of publication – announced that the company reached a peak in carbon emissions[2] across its operations in 2022, two years ahead of its original climate target.

The report also outlines OPPO’s efforts and achievements in building a more inclusive and sustainable future, focusing on five key areas: virtuous innovation, environmental protection, ecosystem engagement, operations and compliance, and employee care. ‌

Driven by its brand renewal – ‘Make Your Moment’, OPPO will propel sustainability to create an impact through green innovation and responsible technology.

Making its Operations and Products Greener

In line with its commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, OPPO has been actively exploring new models for reducing emission intensity. It achieved a 3.2% year-on-year reduction in Scope 1 & 2 emissions in 2024, equaling the annual sequestration capacity of about 5,14,320 mature trees[3]. OPPO reduced Scope 3 emissions by 9.3% compared to the previous year by mobilising its supply chain partners.

OPPO also implemented green management practices across the entire lifecycle of its products. In 2024, the company introduced a lightweight packaging design across its entire smartphone product line[4] and adopted recycled materials made from plant residues such as sugarcane and bamboo to replace traditional paper materials. OPPO also integrated innovative engineering solutions to improve the durability of its products.

Engaging with Local Communities as a Corporate Citizen

OPPO India, in collaboration with AICTE, launched the Generation Green campaign to educate youth about the challenges of electronic waste management and the need for effective disposal for a sustainable future. The campaign evolved from raising awareness to becoming a practical action platform, engaging 476+ education institutions in India with over 10 lakh student advocates. 5000 interns from colleges were selected as changemakers to drive hands-on sustainability activities, such as awareness sessions, Community Engagements, E-Waste Art Installations, and Green Day celebrations. Additionally, over 10,339 kg of e-waste was collected through community-driven initiatives under the programme. Read more about the Generation Green Initiative

In 2024, OPPO donated more than $62.6M USD globally to social and public welfare organisations, and implemented initiatives in areas such as environment, culture, sports, and education. OPPO also partnered with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) to donate 1,000 OPPO tablets, supporting youth education and cultural development in Asia and Africa.

Virtuous Innovation Simplifies Daily Lives

OPPO maintains technology and innovation as a strategic priority, with a global portfolio of over 1,13,000 patent applications, with 91% of them representing invention patents[5]. The company introduced AI functions across its entire smartphone product line, bringing over 100 AI features to 50 million users worldwide.

Through its commitment to inclusive innovation, OPPO has developed accessibility features including real-time speech-to-text convention, content magnification, and adaptive colour correction, empowering users with hearing or visual impairments to fully engage with digital technology.

Guided by its vision of becoming a sustainable company that contributes to a better world, OPPO will continue to advance sustainable development through technological innovation, creating a resilient technological ecosystem with global partners.
