Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) Flagged Off in Chennai

Chennai, December 26, 2023 – The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) took a significant step forward today as it was ceremoniously flagged off in Chennai by the Hon’ble Minister for IT & Broadcasting and Sports & Youth Welfare, Shri. Anurag Thakur. The event, held on December 22, 2023, witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including SLBC Convenor and General Manager of Indian Overseas Bank, Shri Reyazul Haque, PIB ADG Shri Anna Durai, Director of Culture Dept Shri Sanjay Garg, and Additional Secretary (DARE) & Secretary (ICAR) Shri Harish Kumar. VBSY aims to propel India towards becoming a developed nation by the year 2047, with vans strategically deployed in every district across the country. Two vans were officially launched in Chennai, symbolizing the commencement of this ambitious nationwide program.

The coordination of VBSY will be led by Indian Overseas Bank, specifically the Lead Bank Chennai, collaborating with key stakeholders such as Banks, Petroleum & Natural Gas Companies, the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Postal Department, KVK, ICAR, MoHUA, among others. The initiative will conduct outreach programs targeting beneficiaries under various government schemes, including PMSVANidhi, PM Vishwakarma, PM MUDRA Yojana, Jan Suraksha, Stand Up India, PM Awas Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, PM Ujjwala Yojana, and Digital Payment Infrastructure, etc.

During the flag-off ceremony, the Hon’ble Minister personally handed over letters to beneficiaries under PM Ujjwala, PMSVANidhi, PM MUDRA Yojana, and Self-Help Groups, emphasizing the commitment to inclusive development.

The program is set to continue its journey in Chennai, covering 196 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the coming days, fostering a collaborative effort towards a prosperous and developed India.
