User-Friendly Initiatives for Enhanced Safety and Gaming Experience

India is the world’s largest mobile gaming market in terms of app downloads. Thanks to evolving technologies, the gaming business is expected to grow in new ways, with platforms that host games creating a wide range of employment prospects. According to an EY – AIGF (All India Gaming Federation) report, the Indian online gaming market, presently valued at $1.8 billion, is predicted to reach $4–5 billion by 2025. Additionally, it is predicted that there will be 510 million online gamers in India by 2022, up from 360 million in 2020.

While online gaming is growing exponentially and opens a world of connectivity and fast-paced fun, it is imperative for companies behind these popular games to put in place best-in-class security and privacy measures to protect the interests of the ever-increasing user base.

Here we list down a few noteworthy initiatives you can familiarize yourself with and keep in mind the next time you pick up your phone to play.

Protecting your money: Loss Protection Policy

Love playing chess, carrom or ludo in your free time? There are many notable apps right now that allow you to monetize your skills when playing these games. But sometimes, it’s easy to get carried away while gaming, regardless of whether you are winning or losing. What if you lose your money in the process? Do not worry! A few gaming companies are trying to address this with novel initiatives. For instance, MPL, one of the gaming unicorns in India, recently launched a ‘Loss Protection Policy.’ With this, you can play risk-free and get a refund of up to 100% of your net loss in case you lose a game.

Safeguards against cyber threats

Gaming has always been a great source of entertainment. But what happens when a game is hacked or your information is stolen? Cybersecurity in gaming is on everyone’s mind, both gamers and gaming companies alike. A few months ago, there were reports of a data breach on popular games such as Roblox and Grand Theft Auto. To protect user data, big gaming platforms like Steam have introduced 2FA (Two Factor Authentication) protocols to give players more control over their accounts. Indian companies are taking active steps in this regard too. MPL, PokerBaazi, WinZo, all have systems in place to scan for threats and bad actors and preempt any attacks. Incidentally, MPL and PokerBaazi were recently announced as winners of the SHIELD Trust Awards 2022, awarded by SHIELD a global risk intelligence company, based on the strength of their security measures.

No more bots or troublesome players

There’s no denying that games are a lot more enjoyable when playing against friends and other people. But one of the biggest issues facing gamers is the prevalence of bots. We’ve all seen it before — they are programmed to act like real people but are system-generated. And they ruin the fun of a game well-played —after all where is the fun and challenge in shooting down automated opponents in, say, a First Person Shooter? Another common issue is gamers using cheat codes to get ahead in the game and gain an unfair advantage. Fortunately, many gaming companies monitor such accounts in real time and permanently ban them if any illegal program or activity is traced. For instance, Krafton, the South Korean video gaming giant, recently removed 25 lakh accounts in a month to eradicate cheating on Battlegrounds Mobile India, popularly known as BGMI. Epic Games, the maker of Fortnite, also regularly ejects gamers who are found guilty of cheating in games.

Keep your gaming in check: Time Lock

Like all good things in life, gaming is best enjoyed in moderation. That’s where time locks come into play. iPhones and Android phones already have in-built features or third-party apps available to help you check and reduce your screen time. Going a step further, several online gaming apps have also introduced methods to warn you if you are going overboard when playing your favorite game. For instance, the poker platform PokerBaazi has something called a Poker Break, a way for you to walk away and cool down for a duration of your choice. Other skill-gaming companies like Rummy Circle and MPL also have similar features to ensure you are gaming within reason.

To sum it up, gaming is a great way to unwind and have fun. And the above-listed player-first initiatives will go a long way in keeping it that way.

Seven Meritorious Students From Maharashtra Were Awarded the YS Scholarships to Pursue Their Dreams of Higher Education

Pune(S.N): Your-Space, India’s most loved student housing company, announced the launch of its new Scholarship program – YS Scholarships, in the month of May 2022. In a matter of days, your space had received up to 2000 applications from at least 20 different cities in the country, among whom were students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Amid over two hundred applications from Maharashtra alone and several rounds of interviews, seven very brilliant and determined students were chosen for the scholarship. Sanika Sadashiv Pawale, Vedanti Raju Bachchuwar, Vaishnavi Deokar, Arun Vinayakrao Deshmukh, Sohel Isak Mujaswar, Manasvi Penshanwar, and Vaishnavi Tinkhade are the deserving candidates who are now proud students at MKsss Cummins and Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune, pursuing their dreams to achieve a higher level of education.

Nidhi Kumra, Co-founder and CEO, Your-Space, talked about the program, “This scholarship is not just about funding the higher education of these students, but also about helping the future of our nation; allowing them to dream without the constraints of financial burdens holding them back. As an interviewer who heard the stories of some of these students, I got to witness first-hand how big of an impact this scholarship really makes in the lives of these students. These meritorious students deserve all the support we can offer them. Their strive to succeed and hard work makes our cause all the more rewarding.”

Some of the stories that came forward during the selection phase of the scholarship left everyone speechless. There were students who were the first generation from their families pursuing a higher level of education. Like the story of Sanika Sadashiv Pawale touched the hearts of many during the interviews. From a small town called Mangalwedha in the Solapur district, Sanika always dreamed big in spite of her financial setbacks. With the only breadwinner being her father who works as a meter reader, her family struggled to provide for her studies. They were even denied an education loan upon request. Based solely on her hard work and a score of 95.17% in her 12th grade, she now achieved a seat at one of the most prestigious universities in Pune. Sohel Isak Mujaswar, from Satara, was also a student that made Maharashtra proud. Coming from a family of four members, Sohel was always determined to break the vicious cycle of his family and be the first to obtain a higher level of education. His love for machines and hard work toward getting into a diploma course after his 10th grade gave him direct admission into the second year of Robotics and Automation at Bharati Vidyapeeth University.

“Launching the YS Scholarship program has been such a wonderful experience. We are proud to have started this journey and we intend to make this an ongoing continuous program. The ambition is to reach out to as many worthy students as possible, each year, and offer them an opportunity to fulfill their educational goals. Hindujas Host Their Celebrated Annual Diwali Reception in London After Three Years of the Pandemic

India, 31st October 2022: The Hinduja Diwali Reception, which has become a part of London’s fabled social calendar and attended by successive past PMs, was hosted yesterday in all its pomp and glory after the forced break of 3 years owing to the Pandemic. While the invitations had already gone much in advance, the turn of the political events in the UK provided an auspicious restart to this august event.

HINDUJAS HOST THEIR CELEBRATED ANNUAL
Only a few days ahead of Diwali, Rishi Sunak became the United Kingdom’s first British Asian Hindu Prime Minister. The Hinduja family was delighted to welcome over 300 guests, including peers, MPs, Ambassadors and diplomats, top business leaders, and journalists to their Diwali Reception at their London Heritage Home, the Carlton House Terrace. It was the family’s first in-person Diwali celebration since the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Proceedings began with Sir Clive Alderton, Principal Private Secretary to HM King Charles III delivering special Diwali wishes from the new Monarch, highlighting King Charles’s commitment to all faiths and communities.

Welcoming the guests, Gopichand Hinduja, Co-Chairman of the Hinduja Group, along with his brothers, Prakash and Ashok Hinduja, spoke of the significance of Diwali, about Goddess Lakshmi, and how real wealth comprises blessings and contentment earned through the acts of giving. GP Hinduja fondly mentioned missing his elder brother, SP Hinduja, who couldn’t join the Reception owing to his ill health.

Representatives from the Conservative, Labour, and Liberal Democrat parties who joined the celebration included the new Conservative Party Chairman, Nadhim Zahawi MP, former Health Secretary during the Covid-19 pandemic, Matt Hancock MP, Foreign Office Minister Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, and the globally recognized Mayor of London Sadiq Khan. They all thanked the Hinduja family for bringing so many people together from across the faiths, communities, and political spectrum for this Diwali celebration. Mrs. Kamal Prakash Hinduja, and Mrs. Harsha Ashok Hinduja, presented the mortise of Goddess Lakshmi to the dignitaries.

Arjun Rampal with his partner, Gabriella, and playback singer, Kanika Kapoor were there from Bollywood. Mrs. Usha Mittal, the wife of Arcelor’s LN Mittal, who was traveling, also attended along with 22 High Commissioners from the 38 countries where the Hinduja Group is directly present.

Invoking the Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh for the success of the new Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, Gopichand Hinduja, Mayor Sadiq Khan, and Lord Tariq Ahmed emphasized the richness of diversity in the United Kingdom today with a Christian monarch, a Hindu Prime Minister and a Muslim Mayor of London drawing reference to the famous Hindi movie ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ which incidentally was financed by the Hinduja Family only. Praising the half-a-million-strong Hindu community in London, Mayor Sadiq Khan stated, “London is the greatest city in the world, and one of the reasons is the immense contribution made by the Londoners of the Hindu Faith”.

Keeping in line with the tradition of Diwali and the Hinduja Family ethos, the guests were served an eclectic menu of the choicest vegetarian Indian food.

Microsoft and byteXL sign MoU to develop ‘future-ready’ technology talent pool in Tier 2 & 3 cities

Hyderabad, 31st October 2022: byteXL, one of the leading experiential learning platforms for IT career aspirants, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Microsoft. The MoU is directed to transform educational institutes in Tier 2 and 3 cities across the nation and cater to the 360-degree developmental needs of its students. The pan-India initiative – ‘XLerate’, supported by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), aims to impart training in new age and emerging technologies. This collaboration is aligned with the national vision of providing one crore internship opportunities by 2025.

In a short time of two years, byteXL has demonstrated strong capabilities of creating a significant impact on raising the employability of 1 lac engineering students across 90 institutes in 7 states. This established success of byteXL has been achieved by imparting the training through its seamless hybrid learning model and in-house developed analytics tool that assists in keeping a close track of every aspect of the student’s progress whilst undergoing the program. While byteXL will spearhead the training program and conduct the comprehensive programs, Microsoft will support the endeavor with the necessary infrastructure, including sophisticated Artificial Intelligence (AI) Labs that provide contemporary programs for specialized education. Students can also earn Microsoft certifications, once they complete the required learning and industry-ready skills. Students from this program will have access to Microsoft Azure and AI certifications, along with industry-approved training modules. byteXL’s role in this collaboration will amplify Microsoft’s global skills initiative, which has already provided digital skills to more than 42 million people worldwide.

The strong need – raising technology employability in Tier 2 & 3 cities

Students in Tier 2 and 3 cities have faced challenges ranging from lack of access to quality educational material to exposure to global trends, and lack of industry exposure to scarcity of financial means to complete high-quality education. As a result, many bright students are forced to compromise on their higher education or move to Tier 1 cities for better educational opportunities. This initiative – ‘XLerate’ will be focused on addressing these concerns and ensuring that new-age, quality education and required industry exposure are made available at highly affordable costs. These would play a critical role in not only enhancing the ‘Employability Quotient’ of students but also help in the transformation of the institutes and empower them to produce quality industry-ready talent in the longer run.

Speaking at the MOU signing ceremony, Mr. Karun Tadepalli, CEO & Co-Founder, byteXL, said “This MOU with Microsoft is a critical step in enabling a developmental ecosystem for youth in India’s Tier 2 and 3 cities. The collaboration aims to transform technical education and reimagine the skills ecosystem through a robust and career-intensive curriculum. Our in-house futuristic instruction methodology, coupled with Microsoft’s learning infrastructure will surely produce brilliance in employable students. Our collaborative efforts are directed towards the redefining of the traditional engineering colleges and in creating a globally in-demand growth spectrum for the new graduates.”

Ms. Indrani Choudhury, Chief Learning Officer, Microsoft India said, “Digital technologies will be key in addressing the skills challenge that we are facing today. Democratizing access to skilling with a focus on employability, especially in Tier 2 and 3 cities of India, can empower large talent pools for the digital economy. At Microsoft, we believe we can combine the best in technology with strong collaborations like byteXL to better serve young people and create more opportunities for them.”

byteXL’s Trends Report – Deep Tech Insights 21-22 based on a large sample size of 55,000 students from 60 Tier 1, 2, and 3 institutes also revealed the changing trends and aspirations of the engineering students. The student enrollment rates for specialized technology courses were witnessed at over 90% and 67% in Tier 3 and Tier 2 respectively as compared to 63% in Tier 1. This is a clear indication of the increasing inclination of Tier 2 & 3 students to move up into the value chain. The trend for upskilling is also gaining momentum in Tier 2 students at 68.81% male students and 43.96% female students. Tier 3 students show a similar inclination to Tier 2 with 57.13% male students and 54.63% female students.

According to various industry reports, in the past 10 years (2012-2022) the Employability rate of graduating engineers is less than 8% and 93% of the graduating engineers in India lack the required IT skills to work in IT companies.
