Interfaith Easter Celebration

New Delhi, April 3rd, 2024: The Chavara Cultural Centre Delhi, in collaboration with the Delhi Syro Malabar Youth Movement (DSYM), hosted a heartwarming Interfaith Easter Celebration titled ‘Asha Ka Mahotsav’ (Celebration of Hope) on April 2nd, 2023, at the Diocesan Community Centre (DCC) of Sacred Heart Cathedral Catholic Church in New Delhi.

This event transcended religious boundaries, fostering a spirit of unity and hope. Dr. Fr. Roby Kannanchira CMI, Director of the Chavara Cultural Centre, Delhi, warmly welcomed the esteemed guests and participants. He said, “We come together today to celebrate the message of Easter, a message of hope, renewal, and the triumph of light over darkness. This interfaith gathering is a testament to the power of faith to bring people together and promote understanding and peace.”

Delivering the benedictory addresses were Most Rev. Archbishop Anil Joseph Thomas Couto of the Archdiocese of Delhi and Most Rev. Archbishop Kuriakose Bharanikulangara, Bishop of Faridabad. Archbishop Bharanikulangara emphasized the importance of strengthening interfaith relations in the capital, he said: “We aim to strengthen inter-religious relations, fostering unity and understanding among diverse communities.”

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of HE Mr Juan Angulo, Ambassador of Chile. He highlighted the role of ambassadors in building peace and the collective responsibility to address global challenges like climate change, hunger, and terrorism. Ambassador Angulo remarked, “As ambassadors, we are builders of peace. Everyone has a role. The resurrection of Jesus symbolizes hope, reminding us of our shared humanity.”

The ceremonial cutting of the Easter cake by the Ambassador of Chile and other dignitaries marked the joyous occasion. The evening concluded with vibrant cultural performances, uniting participants in a celebration of diversity and harmony.

DPS Raj Nagar Extension organized a two-day orientation program for its students from Grades Nursery to VIII from 27th to 28th March, 2024. The program aimed at equipping parents with the vision and mission of the school. The session also emphasized a smooth transition for incoming students and fostered a sense of belongingness within the school community.

On Day 1 of the orientation, the session commenced with the lamp lighting and a warm welcome. Furthermore, the Budding Yogis of the school showcased a mesmerizing yoga presentation. The school Headmistress, Mrs. Priyanca Ghosh, addressed Grades Nursery to II students and their parents and introduced them to the school’s culture, policies, facilities, and academic programs.

Additionally, on Day 2, the headmistress addressed the students of Grades III-VIII and their parents. Mrs. Kakoli Sarkar, the exam coordinator, also apprised all parents of school policies and the code of conduct for parents. The School Principal, Mrs. Pallavi Upadhyaya, also reiterated the key points of NEP 2020. An interactive Q&A session was also conducted at the end so that parents could seek guidance on academic aspects, after which the session culminated with a fusion dance performance.

Students of The Academy School (TAS), Pune, hosted a Children’s Book Publishing Festival wherein students from Nursery to Grade V conceptualised, created, and authored their own books on a variety of subjects. The activity is a part of the school’s experiential learning and was designed to nurture creativity and tap their cognitive skills.

The festival, which is a brainchild of Dr. Maithili Tambe, CEO of The Academy School (TAS) included creations from illustrations to imaginative storybooks and educational resources to embellished books. Tambe said the students were given complete autonomy and freedom to make their creations and tap their imagination.

“From conceptualization to execution, students took charge of every aspect of the book-making process. Through hands-on experience, they discovered the joy of storytelling, the thrill of discovery, and the satisfaction of seeing their ideas come to life in tangible form. They also shared their creations with their peers, teachers, and families, through which they can get a sense of accomplishment. The whole point is to fuel their motivation to explore new avenues of learning and expression,” Tambe added.

According to Tambe, the activity will help students develop skills early in their lives and help them get a better idea of their future plans. It will also help students increase their imagination and interest in activities beyond the conventional idea of education.

The students researched their subjects and tried to decipher concepts through engaging content in terms of illustrations or simple language. Moreover, students also laid their hands on scissors, glue, and boundless creativity, and transformed ordinary materials into works of art. They also made decorative covers for their books.

Tinkesh Kaushik, Triple Amputee, Plans Trek to Everest Base Camp to set World Record

Goa 02 April 2024: Bharat Prerna Awardee, Tinkesh Kaushik from Carmona, Salcete lost both his lower limbs below the knee and his left upper limb above the shoulder in an electrocution accident when he was 9 years old. He started running marathons using the Jaipur foot. His passion for fitness grew and so did his list of feats. With sponsorship he was able to get advanced prosthetics and went on to win many awards and set several records.

In 2018 he set a record as the First Triple Amputee to Bungy Jump at Nepal for which he received a mention in the Limca Book of records.

In 2021 he was the First Triple Amputee to scuba dive in open waters at Puducherry.

In 2022 he won the FITTR transformation challenge and was one of five winners from a total of 24000 participants.

In 2022 he also did the 60 kms Goa Liberation Day ride with Xasti Riders, where RAdm Philipose Pynumootil FOGA pinned his Wings of Gold on Tinkesh.

In 2024 Jan, at The International Purple Fest in Goa, he won the Award for Changing Narratives from Enable India Foundation.

With several awards in his kitty, in 2024 he started his Not for Profit called the Tinkesh Ability Foundation in Goa which aims to provide mental health support, prosthetics, and inclusive fitness to People with Disabilities.

To help create awareness and raise funds for the mental health initiative, Tinkesh decided to attempt a new record. This is by far the toughest and most dangerous feat he has attempted to date. Where many non-disabled individuals fear to tread, he has decided to pay his respects to the Great Mount Everest in May 2024 by trekking to Everest Base Camp.

Speaking about the approaching trek, Tinkesh said – By attempting this feat I wish to bring to the notice of the world that people with disabilities are also humans with aspirations and dreams. We are warriors but like all humans we need help from our communities to thrive. Mental health is a very big issue among the world population today, but for PwDs it is double fold. I want them to have access to the help they need to become productive citizens. I aim to raise enough funds to provide support to amputees, their care-givers and families to overcome their limitations and get integrated back into the mainstream by trekking to EBC.

Tinkesh is a Certified Fitness & Nutrition Consultant & Yoga Teacher. He is a body builder and is training hard for this approaching feat. On successfully completing it, Tinkesh will be the First Triple Amputee to trek to Everest Base Camp, thus setting a world record. We wish him luck on his journey and success for his cause.
