Delhi, 24 January 2024: Indian Institute of Art & Design, in association with Kingston School of Art, Kingston University, UK, hosted its fifth Convocation at Sirifort Auditorium, Delhi. The event witnessed the participation of 95 students who were honored for their academic achievements. Distinguished Chief Guest, Prof. Mandy Ure – Dean & Pro-Vice Chancellor, Inclusion & Sustainability, Kingston University, graced the occasion and delivered an inspiring convocation address. Notable speakers included Dr. Jitin Chadha, Founder & CEO – IIAD, and Professor Usha Patel, Director Academics – IIAD.

The convocation marked the completion of four years of academic learning—students adorned in their academic regalia were from five cohorts: Communication Design, Fashion Design, Interior Architecture & Design, and Fashion Business Management. Notably, the institute achieved an outstanding 94% placement rate this year.

Prof. Mandy Ure expressed her admiration, stating, “Each one of you will have faced unique challenges on your journey here. You’ve proved your strength of character and your ability by working hard.”

Commencing the ceremony, Dr. Jitin Chadha, lauded the Class of 2023 and acknowledged their self-guided learning journey, and how they had imbibed invaluable lessons under their mentors, now scripting unique narratives. In his address, he underscored three pivotal lessons: “Learn from failures for discernment, build tolerance for ambiguity as change-makers, and embrace empathy for effective leadership and positive impact on the world.”

Prof. Usha Patel took the audience through a journey reflecting on the dedication, experiences, challenges, and milestones of the IIAD students. “Today, you stand here not merely as scholars but as vessels filled with a rich brew of knowledge, experience, and resilience that has been brewing for a very long time,” emphasizing the transformation each student underwent.

For its nine-year journey, IIAD has firmly established itself as a leading design institution in the country. The institute’s educational philosophy is anchored in project-based learning, collaborative shared-studio experiences, industry-integrated projects, and hands-on internships, collectively cultivating an enriching and immersive learning environment.
