New Delhi, Aug 27: India’s media and entertainment industry is set for strong growth in the coming years, driven by rapid digital adoption, rising demand for regional content and the expansion of technology-led entertainment platforms.

The country’s entertainment and media market is projected to grow from $25.7 billion in 2025 to $36.7 billion by 2030, registering a compound annual growth rate of 7.4 per cent. The growth is expected to be supported largely by digital advertising, over-the-top (OTT) platforms, gaming and emerging technology-based revenue streams.

India’s expanding digital ecosystem is transforming how audiences consume entertainment and media. Increased internet access, wider smartphone adoption and growing demand for on-demand content are creating new opportunities for media companies, advertisers, content creators and digital platforms.

Internet advertising is expected to remain one of the fastest-growing areas of the industry. Revenue from the segment is projected to nearly double from $7.5 billion in 2025 to $14.3 billion by 2030, reflecting a CAGR of 13.9 per cent. Search and video advertising are likely to remain important contributors as businesses increasingly shift their marketing efforts towards digital platforms.

The OTT market is also expected to maintain its growth momentum, with its value projected to rise from $2.2 billion in 2025 to $3.6 billion by 2030, representing a CAGR of 10.2 per cent.

OTT platforms are increasingly exploring advertising-supported offerings alongside subscription-based services. This shift is opening additional revenue opportunities while allowing platforms to reach a wider audience. Premium programming, regional content and stronger audience engagement are expected to remain important growth drivers.

The growing popularity of regional-language entertainment is further expanding the reach of digital media beyond major urban markets. Content tailored to local audiences is helping platforms attract new users and strengthen engagement across different parts of the country.

Gaming and other technology-driven segments are also expected to contribute to the industry’s expansion. New digital formats, improved distribution channels and evolving monetisation models are creating fresh opportunities for businesses across the media ecosystem.

With consumers spending more time on digital platforms, the industry is witnessing a gradual shift towards personalised content, multiple revenue models and technology-enabled experiences. These trends are expected to support continued investment and innovation across the sector.

India’s young, digitally connected consumer base and expanding digital infrastructure provide a strong foundation for sustained growth. The combination of digital advertising, OTT, gaming, regional content and emerging technologies is expected to keep the media and entertainment industry on a positive growth trajectory through 2030.
