Debt-oriented schemes led the inflows with around Rs 1.88 lakh crore, while equity mutual funds attracted Rs 24,697 crore during the month.

Among equity schemes, small-cap funds received the highest inflow of Rs 7,767.50 crore, followed by mid-cap funds at Rs 6,192.31 crore and flexi-cap funds at Rs 4,709.08 crore.

Hybrid schemes also remained popular, attracting nearly Rs 11,491 crore, while ETFs received about Rs 9,512 crore.

The latest figures show that mutual funds are becoming an increasingly important investment avenue for Indian households. The number of mutual fund folios stood at 28.09 crore at the end of July, highlighting the expanding participation of individual investors.

While equity inflows moderated from June, when they stood at Rs 28,973 crore, investors continued to put money into market-linked products. The broader industry also continues to expand, with AUM having grown significantly over the past decade.

The July numbers underline the growing role of mutual funds in channelising household savings into India’s financial markets, with investors increasingly using a mix of equity, debt and hybrid products to build their long-term portfolios.
