Rotary Club of Hyderabad East to Inaugurate State-of-the-Art Food Science & Testing Laboratory set up at project cost of Rs 40 lakhs at Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University

Hyderabad, June 26: The Rotary Club of Hyderabad East (RCHE), in collaboration with The Rotary Foundation and the Rotary Club of Canton, USA, will inaugurate a state-of-the-art Food Science & Testing Laboratory at Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University (VCIWU) on Monday, June 29, 2026

Sridevasena, IAS, Commissioner of Technical & Collegiate Education, Government of Telangana, will inaugurate the laboratory as the Chief Guest.

Prof. Surya Dhananjay, Vice-Chancellor, Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University, and Dr. S. V. Ram Prasad, District Governor, Rotary International District 3150, will grace the occasion as Guests of Honour. PDG K. Prabhakar, District Rotary Foundation Chair, RI District 3150, will attend as the Special Guest.

The laboratory is established at an investment of rupees forty lakhs, under The Rotary Foundation Global Grant with the support of international partners, including the Rotary Club of Canton, Rotary International District 6400, and Rotary International District 5810, reflects Rotary’s commitment to advancing education, scientific research, and community development.

The NABL-accredited Food Science & Testing Laboratory has been designed to provide students, researchers, and faculty with world-class infrastructure for advanced experimentation, research, product development, and quality testing. The facility is expected to strengthen academic excellence, promote innovation, and create industry-ready professionals in the field of food science.

The laboratory comprises four specialized units such as Food Testing & Quality Assurance Unit, Product Development & Innovation Unit, Research & Analysis Unit and Training & Skill Development Unit

The facility will enable students to gain hands-on experience with advanced analytical instruments, undertake cutting-edge research, develop innovative food products, and acquire practical skills aligned with industry requirements. It is also expected to serve as a valuable resource for academia, industry, and society by supporting research, quality assurance, and innovation in the food sector.

Speaking about the initiative, Govind Putta, President, Rotary Club of Hyderabad East, said, “This laboratory represents Rotary’s commitment to creating sustainable educational infrastructure that empowers future generations. By providing world-class facilities for food science research and innovation, we hope to nurture skilled professionals who will contribute to food safety, quality, and technological advancement for the benefit of society.”
