RSK Business Solutions Attends UK-India CETA, Highlights the Importance of the UK-India Trade Treaty

CETA came into effect on July 15, 2026. Tariffs on 90% of UK goods exports to India have been liberalised. Meanwhile, 99% of Indian goods exports to the UK now benefit from duty-free or reduced-tariff access. Bilateral trade is expected to grow. The economic relationship between the two countries is entering a new phase.

The agreement marks an important development in UK-India economic relations. Tariff reductions are expected to support goods trade. Closer commercial ties also create openings for technology and professional services. Indian technology companies now have scope to explore partnerships with UK businesses. Software development, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud solutions, and digital transformation are areas of growing interest.

Commenting on the significance of the agreement, Praveen Joshi, Managing Director of RSK Business Solutions, said,

“Trade agreements create opportunities. Their real value depends on how businesses act on them. For technology companies, this means understanding a partner’s operational challenges. It means delivering solutions tied to specific business needs. Stronger UK-India ties can support collaboration in software engineering and digital transformation. Lasting partnerships require technical expertise, reliable execution, and a clear focus on outcomes.”

The CETA Marketplace was organised to help businesses translate the agreement into practical commercial opportunities. It brought together organisations from advanced manufacturing, clean technology, healthcare, financial services, education, and infrastructure. Participation from businesses across different parts of the UK highlighted the potential to expand engagement beyond established business centres.

For the technology industry in India, improved economic relations pave way for genuine opportunities. Upgrading the software and integrating the systems already present in organizations are some of the immediate areas where there is scope. Organizations using new technologies have to provide solutions which suit their processes. Security and stability should not be an afterthought. Technology cooperation has to go beyond mere implementation.

The CETA Marketplace gave businesses and policymakers a platform to discuss these possibilities. Its emphasis on practical engagement made the point clearly. Stronger bilateral ties only mean something when they translate into partnerships that drive innovation, business growth, and economic progress in both countries.
