Bhubaneswar, Sept. 22 (UDN): The Khordha district administration has ordered the closure of all schools and Anganwadi centres across the district for three days, from September 22 to 24, as a precautionary measure against the expected heavy rainfall triggered by a depression over the Bay of Bengal.

The order, issued by District Collector Amrit Rituraj, applies to all government, government-aided and private educational institutions from Shishu Batika (kindergarten) to Class XII.
While classroom activities will remain suspended, the National Rural Talent Search (NRTS) examination, scheduled for September 22, will be conducted as planned.
The administration has directed all teachers and school staff to report to their respective institutions despite the closure. School authorities have also been instructed to keep buildings and related infrastructure ready for emergency use if required.
Headmasters and principals have been asked to implement a roster-based duty system to ensure school premises remain accessible round the clock during the three-day alert period.
The precautionary measures come as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across several parts of Odisha under the influence of a depression expected to approach the north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coast.
The district administration has instructed all educational institutions to comply with the order with immediate effect and remain prepared for any emergency arising from the evolving weather situation.
