Mumbai, Nov 02: IMDb, the world’s most popular and authoritative source for information on movies, TV shows, and celebrities, recently unveiled 10 Years of Streaming in India — An IMDb Report 2026. Based on page views from more than 250 million monthly visitors to IMDb worldwide, the report analyses the Top 10 Most Popular Indian Series for each year from 2016 to 2026. It also examines the wider universe of Indian series to understand trends beyond the most popular titles, including the evolution of audience preferences, the emergence of streaming franchises, and shifts in production and consumption.
In the report, Mona Singh, Kay Kay Menon, Naveen Kasturia, Sobhita Dhulipala, Nidhi Singh, Richa Chadha, and Jaideep Ahlawat emerged as ‘The Versatile Players’, described as actors who display range across many series. Their strength is the ability to move between very different IPs and stay relevant in each.
The report notes:
“The route to becoming a lead no longer runs only through conventional movie stardom. Actors can build breadth across IPs, become synonymous with one character, anchor a recurring franchise, or arrive from another creative discipline altogether. Streaming has expanded the kinds of stories being told and the kinds of actors who can lead them.”
Speaking on the report, Mona Singh said,
“What I have enjoyed most about the last decade is how streaming has let actors move freely between very different worlds, genres, and characters. After years of working across mediums, it has been a joy to find a platform that trusts you to bring that experience to every new role, and audiences who are open to seeing you in a different light each time. I am thankful to see that journey reflected in IMDb’s report, and to be named alongside actors I admire. It is a reminder that curiosity and range can take you a long way. I look forward to taking on more stories that challenge me and surprise the audience.”
