June 29 : Reinforcing its commitment towards environmental sustainability and the vision of a Viksit BharatAmity Institute of Environmental Science , Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida Campus, has organized a four-day Faculty Development Program on “Innovative Solutions for a Sustainable & Resilient Viksit Bharat: Ambient Air Quality Assessment and Mitigation Measures for Sustainable Urban Environment in Delhi-NCR”, from June 29 to July 2, 2026.

Faculty Development Program on Innovative Air Quality Solutions for Building a Sustainable and Resilient Viksit Bharat, inaugurated at Amity(29th June )

The Faculty Development Program has been designed to strengthen the scientific knowledge and technical competencies of faculty members, researchers, scientists, environmental professionals and academicians in the areas of ambient air quality assessment, pollution monitoring technologies and sustainable mitigation strategies for addressing the growing environmental challenges in urban regions, particularly Delhi-NCR.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Vijay Kumar Soni, Scientist-G, India Meteorological Department (IMD), New Delhi, remarked,

“Understanding the interaction between meteorological parameters and atmospheric pollutants is essential for developing effective air quality management strategies. Scientific monitoring, accurate data interpretation and improved forecasting capabilities are critical for mitigating pollution and protecting public health. Collaborative initiatives between academia, research institutions and government agencies will play a vital role in achieving sustainable urban development.”

Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh remarked,

“The programme will encourage interdisciplinary learning and strengthen research capabilities for addressing real-world environmental issues. The programme will provide participants with practical exposure to advanced air quality monitoring instruments, pollutant measurement techniques, exposure assessment methodologies, meteorological influences on air pollution and evidence-based mitigation approaches for sustainable urban development, which is the need of the hour.”

Dr. S.P. Singh, Director, Amity School of Natural Resources and Sustainable Development (ASNRSD), stated,

“Environmental sustainability has become one of the defining priorities for India’s growth journey towards a Viksit Bharat. Institutions of higher education have a significant responsibility to promote scientific research, innovation and capacity building for developing sustainable solutions to complex environmental challenges. Through this Faculty Development ProgramAmity aims to equip academicians and researchers with advanced scientific knowledge and practical skills that can contribute to creating healthier and more sustainable urban ecosystems.”

Welcoming the guests, Dr. Renu Dhupper, Assistant Director, Amity Institute of Environmental Science (AIES), said,

Air pollution continues to be one of the most pressing environmental and public health concerns, especially in rapidly urbanizing regions such as Delhi-NCR. This Faculty Development Program has been carefully designed to provide participants with comprehensive exposure to modern air quality monitoring techniques, pollution assessment methodologies and sustainable mitigation measures.”

During the four-day programme, Expert Talks on various topics such as “Air Pollution Meteorology in Delhi-NCR—Wind Patterns, Mixing Heights, Temperature Inversions & Monsoon Dynamics,” “Hands-on Training and Comparative Analysis of Air Quality Monitoring Instrumentation for Particulate Matter,” “Fundamentals of Ambient Air Quality Monitoring and Pollutant Measurement Principles,” “Health Effects of Air Pollution: From Exposure Assessment to Preventive Strategies,” and many others will be organized.
