SRM MCH&RC to Host National Conference on Translational Regenerative Biology and Bioengineering

news Nov 2, 2026

Chennai, Nov 02: The Division of Medical Research at SRM Institute of Science and Technology is set to host the National Conference on Translational Regenerative Biology and Bioengineering from November 3rd to 5th, 2026. The event will commence with a pre-conference workshop on November 3rd, 2026, followed by the main conference on November 4th and 5th, featuring scientific discussions and interdisciplinary knowledge exchange.

The conference aims to bring together leading scientists, clinicians, academicians, industry professionals and students to exchange knowledge and explore emerging developments in biomedical science and healthcare innovation in the field of Regenerative Biology.

At a time when medical research is increasingly focused on translating scientific advances into practical healthcare solutions, TRBB 2026 seeks to highlight the growing significance of regenerative biology and bioengineering. These interdisciplinary interactions hold considerable promise for advancing medical therapeutics by better sharing the current understanding of disease mechanisms and creating new approaches for diagnosis and treatment by developing innovative techniques of tissue regeneration and novel biomaterials.

The scientific programme will focus on emerging research areas including stem cell biology, sub cellular therapy, lab-on-a-chip technologies, organoids, biomaterials, and theranostics. By bringing together expertise across these disciplines, the conference aims to encourage meaningful scientific discussions, foster interdisciplinary collaborations and strengthen the connection between fundamental research and its potential clinical applications.

The importance of translational research lies in its ability to bridge the gap between laboratory discoveries and real-world healthcare needs. Advances in regenerative biology and bioengineering can contribute to the development of innovative therapeutic strategies, improved disease models and more effective diagnostic technologies. TRBB 2026 will provide an opportunity to examine these developments, discuss existing research challenges and identify promising directions for future medical diagnostics and therapeutics.

While the conference is expected to be particularly beneficial for doctoral scholars and early-career researchers, offering exposure to contemporary research methodologies and emerging scientific technologies and the work of established experts, it is also expected to open windows in basic regenerative medicine techniques to undergraduate and postgraduate life science, medical and bioengineering students.

TRBB 2026 will feature keynote lectures, invited talks, workshops, poster presentations and flash talks by scientists from leading institutions across India. These sessions are intended to facilitate the exchange of ideas, encourage research-oriented discussions and promote collaboration among academia, clinical research and industry. The conference also seeks to provide a science communication session from scientists for the lay-public, to enhance the awareness of public in regenerative medicine and to remove any apprehensions they may have in embracing novel therapeutic avenues and also to create better awareness of the limitations of these modern technologies.

The Organising Secretaries of TRBB 2026, Dr. Snehasis Mishra, Dr. Rizwanul Haque, Dr. Shiny PJ, Dr. Muralidhara Rao, Dr. Gisha Sivan and Dr. Sourav Banerjee, informed that the conference will bring together approximately 200 delegates from across India. The conference will also feature a pre-conference workshop on 3rd November 2026, with 79 registered participants, providing an opportunity for focused learning, skill development and academic interaction. The scientific programme will feature keynote addresses by Prof. Suman Chakraborty of IIT Kharagpur and Prof. Sarit Kumar Das of IIT Madras, along with scientific lectures by Prof. Vignesh Muthuvijayan, Prof. Asim Bhaumik, Prof. Santanu Dhara, Dr. Greeshma Thrivikraman, Dr. Saumya Ray Chaudhuri, Dr. S. Balakumar, Dr. Amlan Das, Dr. A. Joseph Nathanael, Dr. Krishnanda Chattopadhyay and Dr. R. Ilangovan, representing institutions including IIT Madras, the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, IMTECH Chandigarh, the University of Madras, VIT and other leading research institutions.

According to Prof. Sunil Narayan, Dean, Medical Research, SRMIST, TRBB 2026 thus aims to lay foundations for starting a regenerative medicine programme at the department of medical research in collaborations with our corresponding bioengineering departments and clinical departments of SRMIST and to contribute to the advancements of regenerative biology and bioengineering research in India and support the translation of scientific discoveries into future healthcare solutions.
