Vanity Wagon- Community Meet

Vanity Wagon hosts Community – Meet for Consumers Empowerment

Vanity Wagon, India’s largest clean beauty marketplace hosted its first-ever community meet-up at Cafe Bar Celeste, Gurugram on May 7th, aiming to connect with its conscious beauty consumers from Delhi. In this multi-touchpoint world, customer journeys have become more complicated and informational as well as chaotic with misleading data. The brand did this larger-than-life activity as a way to mindful interaction with its consumers about the Clean Beauty movement and drive momentum for the toxic-free beauty regime. To maintain a lasting connection with the real ambassadors of healthy beauty, Naina Ruhail, Founder, Vanity Wagon actively engaged the audience.

Expressing her thoughts at the event, Naina Ruhail, Founder, Vanity Wagon said “Consumers are more concerned with ethical and holistic beauty concepts; they are not impulsive buyers anymore. Today, a consumer carefully analyses the products and chooses those that are nature-friendly and make greener contributions. We want consumers to question toxic ingredients, as well as products that cause skin problems, or, in the worst case, are carcinogenic or endocrine disruptors. This event was a mindful junction for connecting and getting to know our customers, their experiences, and their journey into conscious beauty.”

The Clean Beauty movement and community are growing on a big scale. As consumers continue to search for connections with brands, brands must invest in their communities in multiple ways by listening, understanding their concerns, noticing their feedback, and integrating it into their actions. “Consumers add value to the life cycle of a brand, and they want to be recognized for it. Social interaction is a means of empowering consumers and showing that brands are dedicated to bonding and growing the tribe of loyal customers.” said Naina Ruhail.

Vanity Wagon believes in bringing and building the community together for a common goal of Clean Beauty. Making a change in consumer choices by freeing them from conventional and toxic-laden beauty is what the Clean Beauty movement is all about. Now, consumers want skincare products with honest and minimalist ingredient lists.

Join the movement to benefit the well-being of consumers and the planet.

Indian media and democracy have become more assertive- Anuranjan Jha in Glasgow

New Delhi, 12th May, 2022: The Indian Council of Scotland hosted a dinner in Glasgow on Saturday to discuss the changing nature of Indian media and politics. As the chief guest and speaker, senior journalist and writer of India, Anuranjan Jha participated in this event. Speaking on the role and politics of media in the present era in India, Anuranjan Jha said that both Indian media and democracy have become more assertive in the age of new technology and new media. At present, there is strong leadership in a country with a population of 140 crores and full of languages and diversity, and we are seeing its results on a global scale. Responding to a question, Anuranjan Jha said that it is easy to allege that there are restrictions on the Indian media, but if the news is reaching you that there are restrictions and the voices keep being vocal against them, then understand that there are no restrictions. Still, it could be the activities of some anti-establishment organisations that want to create such an environment.

Anuranjan Jha said that the Indian media has already become more vigorous. It has all how it is capable of raising questions and playing its role; in such a situation, if someone does not want to do this, then it is their wish and thinking. It might be possible. Referring to Anuranjan Jha’s books ‘A Series of Falls Gods – Ramlila Maidan’ and ‘Bluff of Social Justice – Gandhi Maidan’, Professor Dhruv Kumar, Chairman, Department of Marine Engineering, Glasgow City University and President of the Indian Council of Scotland, said That through these books we could easily understand the change of Indian politics.

On this occasion, many eminent Indians living in other areas of Scotland, including Glasgow, Edinburgh, and people involved in Scottish politics and big business houses of Scotland, also attended. Neil Lal, chairman of the Indian Council of Scotland, said that for many generations, Indians have been working to strengthen the country by staying here in Scotland because we are honest about our work. He also added that we are honoured to welcome writer-journalist Anuranjan Jha here in Glasgow, who belongs to a small village in Champaran and has made his mark with achievements.

Dhruv Kumar told the British leaders that for many generations, people who came from India had played a significant role in making this country because we have a sense of right and wrong. Without naming anyone, Dhruv Kumar said that the Scottish people and government should recognise this right and wrong to avoid supporting people and communities who intend to strengthen themselves rather than build the country. British politicians and Unionist Club chairman Robert Elliott and Jamie Crawford told officials of the Indian Council of Scotland on the occasion that they and their party would take all possible care of the interests of Indians and people of Indian origin living here. During the discussion, Anuranjan Jha also said that the way India has fought the battle of Covid, and more than 190 crore vaccine doses had been given to the people in the country so far has taken the western countries by surprise. Continuing the point of Anuranjan Jha, Dr Sanjeev Chitnis and Anjali Chitnis said that the way Indian companies have manufactured cheap vaccines is also an example for the world.

On behalf of Indian Diaspora Scotland, young entrepreneur Richa Sinha and renowned presenter Glasgow Awaaz FM and President SICFC, Manjulika Singh, felicitated Anuranjan Jha for his achievements. On behalf of the Edinburgh Hindu Temple Organization, Sameer Desai was also present on this occasion. Anuranjan Jha invited all the British citizens present and Scottish business people Gordon Morton, David Griffiths and journalist Nial Fraser to visit India and see the diversity there, which they gladly accepted.

Shalby was established by Dr Vikram Shah, world-renowned joint replacement surgeon and its Chairman & Managing Director as a 6-bed small hospital in Ahmedabad in 1994. Under Dr Shah’s visionary leadership, it has grown into a chain of 11 multispecialty hospitals with presence in eight Indian cities. It is renowned across the world for joint replacement and complex as well as revision orthopedic surgeries.

When Dr Vikram Shah established Shalby in 1994 his mission was to provide effective treatment for joint diseases, most of which occur due to age-related joint arthritis, with joint replacement surgery. There was hardly any awareness about this in those days, and though it was becoming popular in western countries there were scarcely any surgeries happening in those days in India. He started with 14 surgeries in the first year, which grew to 100 surgeries the next year. Next year saw a much bigger jump. And in the following years there was no looking back. Today, Dr Vikram Shah is acknowledged not only by the masses but also by the medical fraternity as one of the top joint replacement surgeons of India, who has performed the highest number of such surgeries in the world. Under his leadership today Shalby has become the number 1 joint replacement centre in the world and performs 10,000 such surgeries a year. Till date Shalby has performed more than 1,25,000 joint replacement surgeries. Treatment for all orthopedic diseases from head to toe is available at Shalby. It is a preferred destination for people not only from India but also from across the world for joint replacement and complex & revision orthopedic surgeries.

Dr Vikram Shah, World-renowned Joint Replacement Surgeon & Shalby’s Chairman & Managing Director says, “I am very happy that people of West Bengal have trusted us for their joint pain treatment. We have been treating joint pain and complex orthopedic diseases patients from West Bengal for more than ten years now. We have consultation centres in Kolkata and Siliguri so that people do not have to travel all the way to Ahmedabad for initial screening and consultation. Only those with severe disease come to Ahmedabad for surgery whilst those with mild diseases are treated here itself with medication, diet modifications and exercise counselling. In Kolkata our doctors fly in every week whilst we conduct consultation once a month in Siliguri. Besides, we also do free consultation camps here time to time.”

Myths and Facts about Joint Replacement Surgery

Myth 1 – Total knee replacement lasts only for 10 years

Fact 1 – Current total knee replacement surgery lasts on average 20-25 years.

Myth 2 – Recovery from knee surgery is very painful

Fact 2- Using zero technique, pain after surgery is minimal and managed with medications

Myth 3- Surgery cannot be performed in the elderly

Fact 3 – Medical fitness, rather than age, is relevant for fitness for surgery.

Manish Sisodia, Dy CM, Delhi and M. Sri Bharat, President, GITAM

‘We have made education a political priority,’ says Manish Sisodia at GITAM

Hyderabad April 252022Manish SisodiaDeputy Chief MinisterDelhi was present at the GITAM (Deemed to be University) Vizag campus to address students, academicians, and civil society members as part of their Changemakers series. As part of the exclusive series, national and global leaders visit GITAM campuses, and share their dynamic insights, providing an outside the classroom learning opportunity for teachers and students.

Mr Sisodia spoke at length about the Delhi Government’s education initiatives, the mission and vision behind these initiatives, his growing up years, the transition from activism to politics, adopting participative democratic methods and much more.

He started by talking about his vision for education, “In the last seven years, people of Delhi have given us the opportunity to work on governance and I don’t know if we can say it has transformed, but there is definitely a beginning. In Delhi, we have worked in two folds – one is fixing the problem of education system and using education to fix the problems of the society.”

He added, “We’ve made education a political priority. Education has never been a priority for politicians because the results of investing on education are not immediate. While building roads or working on other infrastructure – right before elections guarantee support during elections, the same can’t be said about education. But we’ve changed the narrative through our work in Delhi. Now politicians do talk about education before elections.”

Explaining on how the change was brought about he said, “We increased the budget allocated to education and we’ve used this money to improve infrastructure – which is always a work in progress. We’ve started training programmes for teachers. We send our government school teachers to universities such as Harvard and Columbia and countries like Singapore and Finland. We want the teachers to provide world-class education, but they can only do that when they know what the rest of the world is doing in the field of education. We’ve also tried to shift the focus of classroom teaching to producing good learning outcomes.”

About using education to fix the problems of the society, he said, “Education is necessary to deliver not only skills, but also a change the mindset. Happiness mindset is missing, entrepreneurship mindset is missing and the mindset that we all belong to one nation and must work together as a team is also missing. So, we’ve introduced three curriculums to produce these mindsets in future citizens. It’s not enough to score high marks, it is also important to have the right mindset to thrive in society.”

Answering a question about AAP’s attempts to foster a participative democracy in society, he gave the example of how the budget preparation process for the Delhi government is inclusive, which considers the inputs of various stakeholders like traders and market associations etc.

Talking about hosting Manish Sisodia, M. Sri BharatPresidentGITAM (Deemed to be University) said, “It was our pleasure to have Mr. Sisodia, amongst us today and inspire our faculty members and students to bring a positive change in the society through their own respective subjects and area of specialisations. Anecdotes from his life will be good guiding principles, especially for the students.”

Mr. Sisodia spoke about moving from journalism to RTI activism and then to politics. He said, “RTI should be strengthened because my belief is that the correct thing will be done only when there is transparency. That is because an act like RTI forces those in power to be accountable. Those in governance should always be afraid of the public questioning them, their actions, and motives. That is important for good, responsible governance.”
