SRAM & MRAM Group, BIG B Partner to Build Major Medical University, Healthcare Facility, and Luxury Hotel in Kazakhstan

New Delhi, November 07, 2024: UK-based SRAM & MRAM Group, in collaboration with Big B Corporation and KAZIND Medical Group of Kazakhstan, is set to develop the largest private healthcare platform in Astana and Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Kazakh Government has officially granted the group a long-term lease on the land following the completion of all formalities. This initiative not only seeks to transform Kazakhstan’s healthcare sector but also focuses on job creation and driving significant economic growth.

Earlier in the Year 2023, the Group and BIG B signed an MOU with the Kazakh Government to develop a state-of-the-art Medical University, a multi-specialty Hospital, and a 5-Star Hotel in the region.

With 243 hectares allotted in Astana and 100 hectares in Almaty, these projects will be trailblazing in Central Asia. The partnership aims to establish the largest medical university in the region, along with a multi-speciality hospital, offering world-class medical and paramedical education to the international students. The project also includes a 5-star hotel to boost tourism and provide world-class hospitality.

Spokesperson from Kazak Govt stated, “The Kazak Government is proud to support this transformative partnership with SRAM & MRAM Group, Big B Corporation, and KAZIND Medical Group. This initiative will elevate healthcare and education in Kazakhstan by establishing the largest medical university and healthcare facility in Central Asia. It will create jobs, boost the economy, and significantly enhance medical services and education for our people. We look forward to the positive impact it will bring to the region.”

“The Group is proud to collaborate with the Kazak Government, Big B Corporation, and KAZIND Medical Group to establish Central Asia’s largest medical university and healthcare facility. This project will certainly enhance healthcare, education, create jobs, and boost the region’s economy. We are excited about the positive change this collaboration will bring to the people of Kazakhstan”, quoted Dr. Sailesh Lachu Hiranandani, Chairman of SRAM & MRAM Group.

Medical education in Kazakhstan has seen significant growth over the past decade. Historically influenced by Soviet-era, discipline-based, and teacher-centered systems, the curriculum was largely traditional, relying heavily on lectures with minimal use of e-learning tools. Assessments were primarily conducted through oral exams and multiple-choice questions. While many universities continue to maintain a subject-based curriculum, there has been a gradual incorporation of integrated learning elements.

Shri Prataprao Jadhav Advocates Ayush: Vision for Accessible Healthcare and Global Recognition

New Delhi, October 3, 2024 – The Ayush Medical Value Travel Summit 2024, themed ‘Global Synergy in Ayush: Transforming Health and Wellness through Medical Value Travel,’ is set to position India as the premier global hub for holistic healthcare based on Ayush systems. This landmark event is organized by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, the Government of Maharashtra, and key partners at Hotel Sofitel, BKC, Mumbai.

Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush, and Union Minister of State, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, inaugurated the summit as the chief guest. In his address, he said, “At the Ayush MVT Summit, we celebrate India’s natural beauty and its holistic healthcare offerings—Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy—attracting thousands of international tourists annually. Our focus on comprehensive health encompasses physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, making India a global leader in health tourism. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Ayush has gained global recognition. He is now vital to India’s healthcare system, including integration into AIIMS and defence hospitals. With the G-20 presidency, we have positioned Ayush globally, integrating these practices into various healthcare systems and institutions nationwide.”

Hon’ble Ayush Minister added, “People are interested in experiencing authentic Ayush services, but many times it is observed that either they are unaware or don’t have access to these services. Events like this create bridges, bringing the healing power of traditional wellness within reach for all.”

Additionally, he mentioned his conversation with the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Eknath Shinde, in which he proposed establishing a Ministry of Ayush in Maharashtra and an Ayush University.

In his keynote presentation, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, stated, “The global reach of Ayush has significantly expanded, with exports witnessing substantial growth. The size of the sector has increased dramatically. I would like to inform you that RIES (Research in Information Systems), an autonomous institute under the Ministry of External Affairs dedicated to research in development economics, has conducted a study on the Forum for Indian Traditional Medicine (FITM). According to their analysis, which compared data from 2014 to 2020 and was reported in 2021, the size of the Ayush sector grew from $3 million in 2014 to $18.1 million in 2020—an increase of sixfold within six years. Furthermore, projections for 2023 estimate that this size will reach $24 million, representing almost an eightfold increase since 2014.”

The Ministry of Ayush has signed an MOU with the Ministry of Tourism to enhance Ayush and medical value travel, with support from the Indian Tourism Development Corporation. State governments must collaborate with their tourism departments to promote Ayurvedic wellness travel and ancient sites of significance. As the number of foreign travellers seeking Ayush treatments grows, it’s vital for all stakeholders—tour operators, insurance providers, and hospitality leaders—to unite and leverage government initiatives to boost this essential sector.”

“The state Ayush departments should collaborate with state health departments to promote archaeological sites of Ayurveda and yoga thus increasing Ayush based medical tourism.”, added Dr. Nesari.

Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awardee Vaidya Shri Devendra Triguna, President of the All India Ayurvedic Congress, spoke passionately about his commitment to promoting Ayurveda.  Mr. Manoj Raghavan, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Elxsi, commenting on the company’s performance in the first quarter of FY25, said:

“We are happy to report a healthy performance in the first quarter with a top-line growth of 2.3% QoQ and 9.0% YoY. We executed very well on operational excellence and fiscal discipline in this quarter towards bottom-line performance, despite the impact of an exceptional one-off expense in the quarter and an increase in the effective tax rate with the change in SEZ benefits for one of our facilities. Our investments in building the talent pool over the past few quarters provides us with strong levers to power topline growth and manage our bottom line. Coupled with our differentiated offerings, offshore delivery and operational excellence, we are confident of returning to our preferred margin band over the year.

Our Transportation business reported a strong growth of 5.3% QoQ and 20.3% YoY in constant currency, and now accounts for more than 50% of our Software Development & Services business. We believe we are well positioned to capture growth opportunities in the coming quarters as we continue to enable the continued transformation of the automotive industry and Software Defined Vehicles.

Our Media & Communication business has done well in a difficult business environment for this industry, growing 0.9% QoQ in actual currency and 0.5% QoQ in constant currency. We are building on our strong customer relationships, even as we roll out innovative growth and efficiency offerings for this industry. I am especially delighted with the NEURON platform-led deal from a leading North American telecom operator for their network transformation.

Our Healthcare & Lifesciences business reported a decline in topline by 4.3% QoQ in constant currency. This is largely due to delay in renewals of some projects at one of our large customers. We continue to add marquee logos and some exciting start-ups to our customer base, laying the foundation for sustained long- term growth along with next-gen service offerings. I am proud of our association and work with Tata Power trust on the India Neurodiversity Platform which is being rolled out across multiple districts across the country. This is powered by TEcare, Tata Elxsi’s Digital Therapeutics solution.

We are investing strongly in digital, AI and Gen AI technologies across our verticals, targeting efficiency and quality in product engineering, as well as novel applications of Gen AI combined with domain and design expertise to solve complex business, product and engineering problems. A great example is from our healthcare business where we have combined our depth of domain and product knowledge with Gen AI, to pioneer an innovative approach to sustainability and material replacement in medical devices and win a strategic deal with a leading manufacturer.

We step into the second quarter of this financial year with the confidence of a healthy deal pipeline, continued growth in our transportation business, new customer wins and expansion of business with strategic customers across verticals.”
