NTPC, GRIDCO, CRUT Join Hands for Green Hydrogen Mobility

 

New Delhi, 24th Dec 2024: NTPC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GRIDCO, a Govt. of Odisha undertaking for Energy and Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), the public transit agency of Govt. of Odisha, on 23rd December 2024, in Lok Sewa Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.

This tripartite MoU intends furthering the green energy technologies in Odisha, especially green hydrogen mobility scheme.

The MoU was exchanged among Shri DMR Panda, CGM (RE), NTPC, Shri Trilochan Panda, MD, GRIDCO and Dr N Thirumala Naik, IAS, MD, CRUT in the presence of Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Krushna Chandra Mohapatra, Hon’ble Housing & Urban Development Minister, Govt of Odisha.

Shri V K Dev, IAS, Principal Secretary of Energy , Ms Usha Padhee, IAS, Principal Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, and other senior officials from NTPC, GRIDCO, CRUT were present on this occasion.

NTPC will setup a green hydrogen fuelling station in Bhubaneswar along with hydrogen buses for short-haul and long-haul operation. This will open an option of phasing out fossil fuel buses in favour clean and green fuels, bringing decarbonisation and energy security. MNRE has contributed partially for setting up of this project in Bhubaneswar.

NTPC is successfully operating the green hydrogen blending project at Surat, Gujarat for last two years and already taken similar mobility initiatives at Leh, Ladakh, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh and Kandla, Gujarat. NTPC is also developing the green hydrogen hub in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh and aims to reach 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032.

NTPC and USAID/India Sign MoU for Net Zero Transformation of NTPC Townships

New Delhi, Sept 9th, 2024: NTPC has signed an MoU with USAID through its India Mission in Delhi to develop a roadmap for transforming NTPC Townships and Offices as Net Zero Establishments. The MoU was signed by Dr Vijay Prakash, Executive Director (SSEA and Envt. Engg.), NTPC and Mr Aaron Schubert, Deputy Mission Director (A) USAID/India and Bhutan in the presence of Shri Ravindra Kumar, Director (Operations), NTPC here in Delhi.

NTPC Limited, the largest integrated power utility in India, is addressing the issues related to climate change proactively. NTPC was the first energy company across the world to declare its Energy Compact Goals as a part of the UN High Level Dialogue on Energy.

As a next step forward, NTPC has decided to make its townships and offices net zero in Scope 2 emissions by FY 2025-26. In addition, NTPC is also making its best efforts to declare its townships and offices net zero in water and waste at the earliest.

The MoU aims at developing strategies and roadmap for achieving the net zero status for NTPC Townships and Offices; benchmarking, implementation and certification, and scaling up initiatives at national level.

Earlier in 2022, NTPC had already signed a Statement of Intent with NITI Aayog for collaboration on developing a net zero GHG emissions roadmap for NTPC Group in alignment with the Panchamrit goals of Government of India.

Juniper Green Energy Secures 480 MW in Hybrid PPAs with GUVNL and NTPC

Delhi NCR, July 2024: Juniper Green Energy is delighted to announce the signing of two Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for hybrid renewable energy projects of total 480 MW of capacity.

 GUVNL Hybrid Phase 1: This project marks the first hybrid initiative with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL), featuring 190 MW of hybrid capacity (140 MW solar and 50 MW wind). It is set to generate 412 million units (MUs) of electricity annually, offsetting 384,067 tonnes of CO2 and supplying clean energy to 82,016 households.
 NTPC Hybrid Tranche -1: Juniper Green Energy’s largest hybrid project to date, in partnership with NTPC Limited, comprises 290 MW of hybrid capacity (210 MW solar and 80 MW wind) across Gujarat and Rajasthan. This project will produce 633 MUs of electricity per year, reducing carbon emissions by 590,810 tonnes and powering 126,165 households.
