Scam 2024 Actor Vidya Malavade on Shooting Her First Microdrama: l was a little scared about

Scam 2024 Actor Vidya Malavade on Shooting Her First Microdrama: l was a little scared about

Vidya Malavade opens up about the fast-paced filming process of Story TV’s Scam 2024 – The Digital Arrest Story and how the format challenged her while allowing her to stay true to her craft.

Shooting an entire series in just a few days may sound daunting, even for an experienced actor. For Vidya Malavade, who made her microdrama debut with Story TV’s Scam 2024 – The Digital Arrest Story, filming nearly 80–90 pages in four days came with its share of apprehension. From remembering her lines to ensuring the fast-paced format did not compromise her performance, the experience presented a new challenge for the actress. However, what initially seemed intimidating soon turned into an exhilarating experience.

Produced by Small Town Boys and directed by Alok Sharma, Scam 2024 – The Digital Arrest Story stars Vidya as Priya Sharma, a working professional who falls victim to a sophisticated digital arrest scam. The thriller follows her journey as she confronts a network that uses impersonation, fear, and intimidation to target unsuspecting victims. The series is now streaming exclusively on the Story TV app.

Speaking about the challenges of shooting in the microdrama format, Vidya said, “The biggest challenge was shooting about 80–90 pages in four days. I was a little scared about whether I would remember my lines or how the entire process would work. I didn’t want to compromise on my ability as an actor because of how quickly one has to finish a scene.”

However, having previously worked with the show’s creators helped her overcome her initial apprehension. “I think it was because the creators of the show, I’ve known him and worked with him once before. And just understanding that they’re there and they’ll do a great job, and they know what they are doing”, said Vidya Malavade on working with the creators of the show.

“I think after the first hour on set, I was just going with it. And the great part of it is you don’t miss a detail at all because you’re shooting with four cameras. And so there’s no retaking of this angle or that angle. So, every emotion is just in its place and it’s just moving fast. And that’s about it.” she shared.

Comparing the experience with her early days in advertising, Vidya described the format as exhilarating. “It’s quite exhilarating, actually. It’s almost like doing an ad film. I started out doing ad films, and they usually take three days. Here, I finished an entire series for Story TV in those three days,” she said.

Starring Vidya Malavade, Pratik Sehajpal and Vineet Raina, Scam 2024 – The Digital Arrest Story is now streaming exclusively on the Story TV app.

John Jacobs x S&N by Shantnu Nikhil: Indian Couture Meets Italian Design

Nov 02: Two distinct design worlds. One statement-making collaboration.

John Jacobs x S&N by Shantnu Nikhil: Indian Couture Meets Italian Design

John Jacobs joins forces with celebrated couturiers Shantnu and Nikhil’s pret label, S&N by Shantnu Nikhil, to launch a 32-piece eyewear collection that marks the designers’ first-ever venture into eyewear. Bringing together John Jacobs’ Italian design sensibilities and S&N’s distinctive design language, the collection reimagines iconic eyewear through bold design, elevated detailing and a strong point of view.

Inspired by The Shape of India, the collection draws from the spirit of influential Indian leaders whose eyewear became symbols of conviction, intellect and authority. Reinterpreted for a new generation, these timeless forms get a contemporary, fashion-forward edge.

The details make the statement. From the iconic S&N mark on the curve of the frame to precision metal streak detailing across the temples, every element is designed to stand out. The finishing touch? S&N’s iconic navy blue and cherry-red tape accents, tucked into the folding hinges. Together, these signature details give the range a distinctive identity, bringing the unmistakable S&N aesthetic to eyewear.

Spanning eyeglasses and sunglasses across wayfarers, aviators, round frames and bold square silhouettes, the collection explores rich colours, premium refined materials and statement-making shapes. Designed to move effortlessly from everyday dressing to occasion wear, these frames bring a new edge to festive outfits, wedding looks and everything in between.

Launching right in the middle of the festive season, the collection makes eyewear more than the finishing touch. Whether it’s a festive gathering, a wedding celebration or a night out, these are frames designed to complete the look.

“Eyewear has been a fascinating extension for us because it allows us to take our design philosophy beyond clothes. We’ve always been drawn to classic shapes, strong silhouettes and the idea of timelessness. With John Jacobs, we wanted to bring that sensibility into eyewear, exploring a certain softness in masculinity and the freedom for people to express themselves in their own way. For us, it’s not just about how a frame looks, but the point of view of the person wearing it” say Shantnu and Nikhil.

Abhimanyu Mishra, AVP, John Jacobs, said,

“At John Jacobs, we’re constantly exploring new ways to push eyewear design forward. With S&N by Shant nu Nikhil, we’re bringing Italian design and Indian couture together in a bold new way. What sets this collaboration apart is the interplay of classic silhouettes, considered materials and signature details, from the S&N motifs to the navy and cherry-red accents. Together, we’ve brought two distinct design perspectives into eyewear, with a shared focus on craftsmanship and a strong design identity.”

Church Street SOCIAL Returns to Bengaluru, Reimagining the First-Ever SOCIAL

Bengaluru, Nov 02: Church Street SOCIAL, the first-ever SOCIAL, has reopened following a complete renovation, returning to the Bengaluru street where the SOCIAL story first began. A cult address that has grown alongside the city and its people, the renewed outpost takes its cues from Church Street itself: a living, breathing public space shaped over time by architecture, culture, expression and counterculture. The new Church Street SOCIAL reclaims that idea of the street in its own subversive way, allowing the familiar and the unexpected to exist together as the space enters its next chapter.

Church Street SOCIAL Returns to Bengaluru, Reimagining the First-Ever SOCIAL

Church Street has never belonged to one moment in time. Early art deco influences and revival-style homes, culminating in the church at the end of the street, gradually gave way to a more unfiltered urban character. At different points, it has felt polished, chaotic, shadowy, crowded and unfinished, becoming the kind of public canvas where people could leave behind their own marks. At the centre of that evolution has always been the language of the street: art, expression and counterculture that push back against everything overly refined, exclusive or orderly.

That spirit now moves through the reimagined Church Street SOCIAL. Large openings created through the façade deliberately blur the line between the outlet and the bustling street outside, making the city part of the experience within. Walls are treated as surfaces for expression, while terrariums emerge from art deco-inspired inlets and the familiar warmth of brick is reworked against SOCIAL’s original grunge aesthetic. Rather than polishing away the imperfections, the space embraces them, turning the act of disruption itself into what the design calls “radical vandalism.”

The idea unfolds through details rooted in the visual language of Bengaluru and South India. Retro Kannada hand-painted advertisements appear as ghost signs; the Nazar Battu, finds a place within the space; the street-side arcade station makes a return; and South Indian comic culture is brought back into focus. Elsewhere, the voyeurism of the street is reframed inside the washrooms, while LED strips reinterpret the colour and energy of festivities running through the outlet. Together, these elements allow the past, present and future of Church Street to sit in conversation rather than compete with one another.

Speaking about the reopening, Riyaaz Amlani, Founder & Managing Director, Impresario Entertainment & Hospitality Pvt. Ltd., said,

“Church Street is where SOCIAL first found its voice, so returning to this space came with a responsibility to understand what made it matter in the first place. It was never only about the four walls. It was about the street outside, the people who came through the doors and the freedom to make the space their own. As SOCIAL has grown, that belief has remained central to how we think about our neighbourhoods. With the reimagined Church Street SOCIAL, we are carrying that original spirit forward while creating room for a new generation to add its own layer to the story.”

The reopening also brings Church Street SOCIAL back as a space for the many ways Bengaluru uses SOCIAL through the day. From coffee and work to long lunches, catch-ups, music, drinks and late-night plans, the outlet continues the all-day rhythm that has always defined SOCIAL. The #Khaana menu brings back familiar favourites including Fully Reloaded Nachos, Ghee Roast Masala Paneer, Chaats, China Boxes and more while the #Peena menu features cult SOCIAL signatures including the L.L.I.T. and Banarasi Patiala.

Beyond food and drinks, Church Street SOCIAL will continue to create room for music, artists, cultural programming, creative collaborations and the communities that have always shaped its outposts. The space is designed to remain open to different people, different plans and the stories that build around them over time.

More than a renovation, the return of Church Street SOCIAL brings the first chapter of SOCIAL into conversation with what comes next. The rawness of the street remains, but in a new form; familiar references return, but are allowed to evolve; and a space that generations of Bengaluru have known is once again open to being claimed, changed and made personal. It is the first SOCIAL, reimagined for the Church Street of today, but still a place people can return to as if they had never left.

Odisha Government Reclaims 28.8 Acres Of Land From Vedanta In Jharsuguda Over Delay In Industrial Development

Jharsuguda, Nov 2 (UDN): In a significant move to recover unused industrial land, the Odisha government has cancelled Vedanta Ltd’s lease of 28.8 acres in Jharsuguda district, citing prolonged non-utilisation and violation of allotment conditions. The decision comes amid the state’s wider push to reclaim government land lying idle with industrial units.

Odisha Government Reclaims 28.8 Acres Of Land From Vedanta In Jharsuguda Over Delay In Industrial Development

Representational Image

The Odisha government has cancelled the allotment of 28.8 acres of government land leased to Vedanta Ltd at Panchapada village in Jharsuguda district after finding that the company had failed to utilise the property for the intended industrial purpose.

The land, which was originally allotted to Vedanta Aluminium Ltd through the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) in 2013, reportedly remained largely vacant for years. Inspections found that only a boundary wall had been constructed, with no significant industrial infrastructure or permanent structures on the premises.

The action follows multiple inspections and an audit observation that highlighted the prolonged non-utilisation of the allotted land.

According to reports, the Accountant General (Audit-I), Odisha, flagged the issue during an inspection on April 16, 2025. Subsequent verification by the Jharsuguda land administration and IDCO officials also confirmed the absence of substantial construction or industrial activity.

Following these findings, the Jharsuguda Collector requested IDCO to initiate steps to take back the land.

IDCO Issues Notice Before Cancelling Allotment

Before taking the final decision, IDCO issued a show-cause notice to Vedanta on April 9, seeking an explanation for the failure to develop the land.

In its response, the company reportedly stated that the property had been earmarked for future expansion, ancillary facilities, industrial support infrastructure, employee welfare facilities and healthcare-related projects.

However, authorities maintained that the company had not fulfilled the conditions stipulated in the original allotment and lease documents.

Under Clause 19 of the allotment letter and Clause 43 of the lease deed, construction was required to commence within the prescribed timeframe. Failure to comply with these conditions made the allotment liable for cancellation, with the land reverting to IDCO free from encumbrances.

Following the cancellation, Vedanta has been directed to immediately hand over peaceful and vacant possession of the property to the competent authority.

The company has also been prohibited from creating third-party interests in the land or undertaking any further construction or activities on the premises.

IDCO’s land officer and other divisional officials have been instructed to complete the physical resumption process, update relevant land records and formally restore possession to the corporation.

Vedanta Claims Loan Repayment, Expresses Interest In Healthcare Project

Responding to the development, Vedanta stated that the loans secured by mortgaging the leased property had already been repaid.

A spokesperson for Vedanta Aluminium Metal Ltd reportedly said the company had also expressed interest in developing community-oriented public infrastructure on the land, including a comprehensive healthcare facility.

The company had earlier mortgaged the leased property to secure a credit facility. However, the state government’s position was that repayment of the loan or proposed future development did not override the obligation to comply with the original land-allotment conditions.

The government has maintained that industrial land is a valuable public resource and cannot remain unutilised indefinitely.

Under the applicable government policy, industrial land remaining unused for three years is liable to be reclaimed, subject to the conditions of allotment.

Odisha Cancels 267 Industrial Land Allotments Since 2016

The cancellation of Vedanta’s land lease is part of a broader government initiative to recover industrial plots that have remained unused despite being allotted for investment and industrial development.

Since 2016, the Odisha government has reportedly cancelled 267 land allotments involving industrial units that failed to utilise their allotted properties. Show-cause notices had also been issued to another 398 units by March 2026.

The scale of the problem was highlighted in a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) performance audit on industrial land management.

The audit found that 12,393.651 acres of land allotted between 1981 and 2021 for industrial and allied activities remained unutilised.

The state has previously taken similar action against several major industrial projects. In 2017, the government cancelled land allotted to South Korean steel giant Posco after its proposed 12-million-tonne steel project failed to materialise.

IDCO had also cancelled the land lease of Lanco Solar in 2014 after the company failed to establish its proposed solar manufacturing facility within the stipulated period.

Allotments involving other industrial entities, including Uttam Galva, Sahara India and Visa Power, have also faced cancellation over prolonged non-utilisation.

Land Cancellation Comes Amid Vedanta’s Major Investment Plans

Interestingly, the latest government action comes at a time when Vedanta is exploring substantial fresh investments in Odisha.

Group Chairman Anil Agarwal recently held discussions with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi regarding a proposed investment programme worth approximately Rs 1 lakh crore in the state.

The proposed investment plans reportedly include setting up a new aluminium smelter in Dhenkanal, establishing an alumina refinery in Rayagada and expanding the company’s existing industrial operations in Jharsuguda.

The cancellation of the 28.8-acre land lease therefore highlights an important aspect of Odisha’s industrial policy: while the state continues to pursue large-scale investments, companies are also expected to adhere strictly to land-use commitments and development timelines.

The government’s latest move sends a clear message that industrial land allotted for investment must be put to productive use within the stipulated period or risk being reclaimed.

Streaming has expanded the kinds of stories being told and the kinds of actors who can lead them.”

Speaking on the report, Mona Singh said,

“What I have enjoyed most about the last decade is how streaming has let actors move freely between very different worlds, genres, and characters. After years of working across mediums, it has been a joy to find a platform that trusts you to bring that experience to every new role, and audiences who are open to seeing you in a different light each time. I am thankful to see that journey reflected in IMDb’s report, and to be named alongside actors I admire. It is a reminder that curiosity and range can take you a long way. I look forward to taking on more stories that challenge me and surprise the audience.”
