The “Dreamers are Achievers” Fashion Show in New Delhi on February 6th, 2023 was a star-studded affair with a fantastic lineup of guests. Notable names in the fashion industry such as Rina Dhaka, Liza Verma, Jacqueline Lundquist, Manish Baheti, Shahana Mukherjee, and Model Hida Siddiqui graced the event to celebrate the achievements of six African women. The show, organized by former Miss India, Sayali Bhagat, and Skylark Infra Engineering in partnership with Africa Union Holdings Limited of the United Arab Emirates, aimed to empower women from disenfranchised communities and inspire them to become leaders of tomorrow.
The African women, Faith Kachega Mukonko, Mwila Masongo, Angela Malenga, Beauty Katebe, Nalavwe Chinakila, and Doris Couvaras, who are winners of the “My Home Town” pageant in Zambia in the 18-30 and 30-60 categories, shared their inspiring stories as UN speakers, fashion models, Hollywood actresses, entrepreneurs, and more. The event was hosted by Sayali Bhagat and mentored by Chika Ike, a film director and actress from Nigeria, and Pearl Thusi, a film director and actress from South Africa.
The fashion show, designed by Rina Dhaka and choreographed by Liza Verma, showcased not only the African women but also Chika Ike and Pearl Thusi as they walked the runway. The guests present at the event witnessed a celebration of the achievements of these inspiring women and were surely motivated to follow in their footsteps.
